A Southern Surprise

I'm Sick, in the Dr's office waiting room and I'm reading any food magazine I can. So I start reading Southern Living. And I start to notice things. One, recipes have been ripped out, My solution is to just snap a pic so that others can enjoy. Second, I see a pic of Rebecca Romijn and her twins, which I know isn't current. So I checked the cover to find it was from February 2010. Well I guess it's better than reading Guns & Ammo! But I did score this Creamy Alfredo Recipe, Can't wait to try it!

Po-Tacos

Another dinner time dilemma Baked Potato or Taco? Why can't you have both said the hubs? So he went to taco town and basically made his potato a taco shell, but I'm not complaining since it is a perfect way to use up leftover taco filling or you could use chili, oh the possibilities! He ate every bite!

I'm Sick! Pass the Ramen

First the hubs was sick, Now it's my turn to be sick, ugh Of course I always keep a few packets of ramen for just the occasion. But ramen noodles can get tiring, so here's how I jazz them up. I apologize for the mediocre pic but hey I'm sick! Faux Pad Thai 1 package Ramen noodles, I used oriental 1 Tbsp soy sauce 2 Tbsps peanut butter 2 tsps sriracha 1 green onion, chopped Prepare noodles with flavor packet. Drain all but 1/4 C of liquid. Toss with soy sauce, peanut butter, and sriracha. Garnish with green onions. Serve with a side of emergen-c ha!

3 Buck Chuck & a Clearance Wine Haul

Here's to going out of town and getting to visit a Trader Joe's! Yes, I only wanted to go there and get wine. At Trader's you can purchase some good wine for $2.99 a bottle, so I got a case for $35.88. But it gets better At Target a stroll down the wine aisle, got me this bargain. $9.99 wine that was on clearance for $2.69 and since I bought 6 plus bottles I saved an extra 10% and since I used my target red card I saved 5% on my total purchase. So I got 8 bottle of wine for about $2.08 each. So for $52.52 we ended up with 20 bottles of wine and returned with 14 of them. We had help drinking the wine, I swear! So at $2.62 a bottle, We are in Wino Heaven!

Classic baked potato

The past week has been so crazy. Since going out of town and having a sick hubby and trying to get back into the swing of work, I'm kinda worn out. I need to take time and get caught up on my blog. So for dinner last night I went with just a simple baked potato. Scrub potatoes, dry and rub with olive oil and dust with sea salt and coarse black pepper. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Place potatoes directly on oven rack and bake for about an hour. These were so yummy. Soft on the inside with a crispy salty exterior! Topped with some butter, sour cream, green onions, cheese and bacon if you are that kinda girl, but I'm not I prefer some smoked paprika and a quick twist of the pepper grinder. Dinner is done.

The Valentine aisle is dangerous

Walking through Walmart's Valentine aisle I came across the wait for it...Turtles, but it gets better, they have cashews!!! Get yourself a bag and hide it from your family, cuz you will be eating them all! Or maybe I'm just talking about me I also may have purchased some red velvet m&ms, but someone ate them all and someone put Valentine peanut m&ms in my basket XOXO

February's Fiscal Fashion Tips

**Spare Time Post** These are my new fashion rules for 2014, and all without spending any $ 1. What is old is new again . Meaning dig into the back of your closet and pull out some things you haven't worn in awhile. 2. Wear clothes you've bought and haven't worn. You know the ones in your closet with the price tags still on them. Either return them to the store already or wear them. 3. Create a new outfit. Pull out items and create an outfit from clothes that you already own. 4. Jazz it up with jewelry. Get out the costume jewelry and accessorize. 5. Repair before replacing. Fix the hem in those pants and sew that button on. Now, Ladies don't panic. I'm not saying don't spend any money on clothes, I am just saying to check your closet, there may be treasures to be found! P.S. I'm totally guilty of the number 2 rule. I found 6  7 items with the price tags still on them. 3 dresses, one of these I'm wearing this weekend to a wedding.

I Heart Chocolate

Valentine's Day is coming,  here's a little dessert preview for my Valentine Nutella frosted brownie with hot fudge sauce.  And oh yes sprinkles too! XOXO

A year of couponing

Who says couponing doesn't save you money? Seriously they need to start cutting some coupons! Over the last year I have saved probably over $1000. I used to keep track with an excel spreadsheet but stopped after I reached $700. Most are on things that we actually use with a few new products thrown in for good measure. And a few extra bottles of laundry detergent, but if you have a place to store it why not? It will be used and won't go bad. Here's a few pics that I took as I started raking in the savings! lol
